2010: Back in Business

The longer I go without blogging the more I feel discouraged in getting it started again. So world, here is the first blog, and just like that initial run after a few weeks of not working out, it burns.

My first semester at Biola came to a close, with much rejoicing all around. My ending GPA was nothing to boast about, but it was good enough to keep my scholarship (and that’s the most important part). However, I am still proud of myself of the course load I was able to tackle, and am so much more motivated for the semesters to come.

I’ve moved out of campus and will be commuting next semester, mostly for monetary reasons, but partly because I felt ill-suited for the frivolities that were involved with college life. Don’t judge me, and I won’t tell the world about your fair share of college escapades ;)

I’m currently undergoing the grueling task that is called interterm, a 3 week winter class session that demands my attention from 8am – 3pm. Last time I was up that early for class…I was in high school. But I’m enjoying it as much as I possibly can, learning a lot and excited to be back in class.

I’ve never really been one to set new year’s resolutions. However, I would like to set a few goals for the year, because even I like to jump on the bandwagon every once in awhile. Note: all of these are written in empowering, “will-do” statements, so that it holds a little more substance than “try”. A

1) I currently have 5 different types of student loans out. Though I believe in investing in my education, I AM GOING TO pay off at least one of those student loans (Picking out the one with the highest interest rate first).

2) The army tests their soldiers’ physical fitness by putting them through periodical PT tests. This includes situps, pushups, and a two mile run. For females, the acceptable score is between 15:36-18:54. I AM GOING TO achieve an acceptable score for a two mile. (We'll save the situps and pushups for another year!)

3) I AM GOING TO write at least four articles for a school publication per semester. This semester I was only able to write two, and though they were exhilarating, they often took second place to the numerous homework assignments I had (that actually counted for grades!)

4) As far as grades go: I AM GOING TO get nothing less than B+’s, A-‘s, and A’s.

So…I’m just going to stop right there. They’re not overly ambitious goals. However, they will require me to be conscientious about the things that my life mostly revolves around. They are also goals that I will be able to track and obviously see success (or failure…but mostly success). If I end up achieving my goals before expected, then I can always set up new ones for the next semester.

Things I am looking forward to 2010:

- Lily’s first birthday

- Chris and Megan moving back to Southern California

- Two year anniversary <3

- Army dining out

- Griepsma’s wedding
