Ceramics, Drool, and Finally, All Grown Up!

Though Boyfriend is accustomed to following OpOrders, he is not one to plan things out, unless of course it is one of his cinematic endeavors. I enthusiastically take on the role of planner, card maker and gift giver. Date nights usually consist of low key, low budget trips, like spending hours on end at Barnes and Nobles. Once in awhile though, he surprises me, like taking me to a super cute ceramics place.

I made a letter holder (technically a napkin holder), and Boyfriend painted a Tomcat Piggy Bank! On the other side of the Go Army, it says Beat Navy. =) Painting ceramics is a lot harder than I expected it to be. I pride myself in being slightly above mediocre on the creative scale, but it takes a steady hand and a patient person!

Along the lines of patience...I recently appealed to Biola to become an independent student. In order to be an independent student, you usually have to be 21, married, a ward of the court, in other words, many things that I am not. I appealed to Biola to become an exception to this rule, since I support myself fully. It is a huge process, as they want to ward off any false claims, and you have to jump through just about every hoop possible. Think the headache of FAFSA, times 10! Anyways, I submitted all my information awhile ago, and after thinking that it might be a lost cause, I just got a letter saying that I was approved! What a completely unexpected blessing! I should be getting a new financial aid award letter soon, so fingers crossed that it covers what I need!

Another unexpected item: the Governor recently proposed the elimination of the Cal Grant. It then switched from elimination, to reduction. This would be a very unpopular act, since almost every college student in California is depending on this grant. Word was just put out that the Cal Grant was voted to be protected - 100%! How incredible is that? Every other budget cut for higher education was implemented, but not the Cal Grant. I guess California's government wants college students to be ON their side. Smart move!

A year ago this week, I came back to California from Texas. So many things have changed since then, but it's been a long, arduous, but successful journey! (and still trekking!)

And even though this is overdue, it has to be the cutest part of this blog.

Niece Lily is just about the cutest baby ever. I've done extensive research, trying to figure out if I'm biased or not, but I'm pretty sure that she is just the most beautiful being in existence. She has a bad habit of excessively drooling, but as far as faults go, it's one we can overlook.

I am SOOOOO happy about the independent student status and couldn't agree more about the cuteness of Lily. :) I'm not biased either.
