Jumpstart Your Life

I work at a restaurant that closes at 2am most days, and on Friday and Saturday, closes at 4am. Crazy, I know. But business has been good and I recently moved up to being a server, which means more money, for less time. Last Saturday night, I got out a little bit early. Though most of the world is already sleeping at 330am, I am more than elated to be able to head home even a half hour early.

Now, downtown is not too awful of a place, but at those late hours of night/wee hours of the morning, anything and everything seems sketch. So when this lady and her husband(?) tried to flag me down, I probably should have kept going. But in my naive, sleepless state, I slowed, and rolled down my window. Their car was dead and they wanted to know if I had jumper cables. Why would any college student have jumper cables in their car? Well, lucky for them, I have a fear of being stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire, dead battery, or other unfortunate event that may cause me to...well, flag down a stranger in the late hours of night/wee hours of the morning. Because of this fear, I have this in my car:

It's a survival kit that includes everything you need and lots of stuff you don't. So lady and her husband (?) - who ended up being a marine - didn't have to wait for 40 minutes for Triple A to get there! I had never used the car survival kit before, and upon opening it, I realized that just about everything in there was zip tied, which is completely unnecessary and somewhat impractical. But yay for being able to help out a stranger, at ridiculous-o-clock in the morn! =)

Boyfriend and Boyfriend's Dad were gone on a mission trip to Grenada for the past couple weeks. I didn't think I'd miss them as much as I really did. I'm fairly good at distance, even when there is no phone calls or emails, but for some reason I missed them both a lot on this trip! They come home today (while I'm at work) so I made them some chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chips in them and rainbow sprinkles on the top!

I also made banana crumb muffins for visiting friends and I gave the leftovers to the neighbors, but I forgot to take a picture =(

And just for fun, a couple pictures that I DID take!:

I hope that you all recognize our friend as the broom man from Fantasia. I was so excited!

This is my Shakespeare shirt. It says Prose before Hoes. Please love this as much as I do. =)

The shirt is awesome! Thanks again for coming to hang out with us in Temecula -- it was so nice to see you. (And thanks for the wonderful gifts, as well!)
