It’s been another one of those days where I spend too much. I spend too much money on things I don’t need, with money that should maybe go to paying off student loans. I spend too much time on the 5 freeway, resisting the urge to text while I go 20 mph in the fast lane. And I spend too much time worrying, about my student loans and about not getting caught texting in the fast lane.
All of these expenses are adding up to my bill of life, and most of them, are not investments. I could be investing, and spending time reading a good book, writing a letter to a close friend, or building my vocabulary while I donate rice to a third world country. (freerice.com) I need to spend more time sleeping, laughing, and praying.
I am so happy that you have decided to invest in my life, whether it’s minutes reading a blog or years to share. You are appreciated.
P.S. On a completely unsentimental but very contemplative note: Visiting the dorm-life this past week caused me to succumb to peer pressure and watch Escape from Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood. We went on to wonder what we would do if we were in jail for a lifetime. Some would get really in shape, some would study theology, some would pull a Clint and make paper mache heads to distract the guards while they escaped. I decided I would study, and become good at, something extremely specific and rare, so that I would be valued and someday needed.

Don't worry, I do it too :D
I spend way too much time worrying about our student loans, too. Why can't higher ed be more affordable?
