A lull in my blog life usually indicates that I'm:

a) Dead
b) Busy
c) Boring

and while I'd rather be dead than boring, thankfully I am neither.

Life is a flurry of 25 units in addition to working 22 units at the restaurant. (if you think that's crazy, Boyfriend's sister in law Megan took 30something units and worked even more hours at her restaurant during her last semester of college).

But life has been good, and the past 4 weeks have introduced a lot of wonderful things into my life.

My roommates, Amber (left) and Shalisa (right)

I love...
class
my professors
their passion for teaching
love that they take the time to know us by name.

It amazes me that...
we stop in the middle of explicating poems to turn to someone beside us and ask how we can pray for them this week.
we take 5 minutes out of journalism ethics to sing a song.
we're not expected to be perfect.

and Biola's not perfect by any means. I was actually slightly disappointed a couple weeks ago at a competition gone sour, and though my steam has mostly blown over by now, I still want to share:

Nationball: essentially, it's a dodgeball competition, but to some people, it's a full on war. Dorms compete against each other, and it's an intense experience. The dorm I live in, has been dorm champs, so naturally we had to defend our title. Being the biggest dorm, it was practically a no brainer that we'd win. Or not...

We lost to the smallest group on campus, which isn't even a dorm at all, but was a team called OCC (off campus commuters). Commuters are their own breed, but they also have less intimacy with the Biola campus. Now, I'm pretty sure that all the Associated Student Body kids joined that team, but was I bitter? Not one bit. Though I was stunned when we lost, I was so happy for the commuters.

I guess the rest of my dorm didn't feel that way, because they walked away and hung their heads in shame. Really guys? OCC was the most deserving group on campus, and nothing can replace the joy that they all had on their faces when they won. I was disappointed that the rest of my dorm mates didn't see it that way. What happened to being gradious losers and for finding joy in other people's victories?

We're all still works in progress. and that's why we're at Biola. =)

I like the new look!

And I'm glad your not dead or bored. :) Nationball sounds fun -- I periodically organize impromptu kickball games, but it's hard to get enough excited people for 2 teams together. My unwieldy stomach makes that totally impossible right now, though. :)
