You know those moments when you finally understand something? The eureka moment they call it.
For example, when I was 3, I struggled with learning how to tie my shoes. My stubby fingers continuously got stuck in the loops, or I would make my bunnies, only to end up with a failed knot. After the 784th time, I finally got it.
Or the time that I learned how to write into my thesis statements. (Oh wait, this was about 4 months ago.)
I love when things magically come together. An article, a plan, or the invention of TiVo. As I started school last week, I was overwhelmed with the amount of work I was faced with. But at 1 o’clock last night, I finished up a piece and I had a very welcoming eureka moment – I’m pretty decent at this “school” thing. Love it.
=)
Also,
You know those moments when you meet someone, and you just automatically want to be their friend? Kindred spirits they call it.
I’ve found a few of those this week, mostly in my journalism classes. Not best friends, not life long partners, but you recognize in each other a mutual affection. Conversations are started with silly introductions:
- Hey…are you in any of my other classes? (As if this person knows your schedule)
- Hi…remind me of your name again. (We’ve never actually met, but I’m assuming that you don’t know that..)
- I got here late, did I miss anything? (I’m dumbing myself down so that I can start a conversation with you. Come on, don’t you want to be my friend?)
I got to start one of those conversations this week by complimenting a neighbor’s planner. Some people need coffee, or their phone, or chapstick. I need my planner. And this neighbor, did too. And eureka – friendsies.
